Tania Kühl is a South African artist inspired by the rich contrasts of her homeland. Its wildlife, sweeping landscapes, and layered, expressive spirit fuel her imagination just as much as its forgotten, derelict corners and unexpected quirks. Her work bridges two visual realms: vibrant, often playful abstract painting and documentary-style photography, frequently captured in black and white.

At the centre of her practice is a fascination with duality. She seeks to let the spontaneous energy of colour and gesture meet the quiet discipline of observation, pairing emotion with reality to reveal both the beauty and complexity of everyday life.

Kühl studied Fine Art at the University of the Witwatersrand and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She now lives and creates in the leafy suburb of Kloof, drawing constant inspiration from the natural world around her and from the journeys that continue to shape her perspective.
